Your favourite places, on camera: Bringing Brisbane’s public spaces to life

Brisbane City Council videos

We love showing off Brisbane’s best bits. So when Brisbane City Council (BCC) asked for help creating a suite of social-friendly videos to promote the city’s lifestyle precincts, we jumped at the chance.

BCC wanted to spotlight some of Brisbane’s most iconic precincts and public spaces – with one important caveat: the content needed to feel authentic and subtle. Less like an ad, more like a natural invitation to explore the city.

With five key locations selected – Fish Lane, Manly Village, Howard Smith Wharves, James Street and New Farm – our job was to bring each precinct to life on screen. Energy, atmosphere, catch-up potential… all captured in a way that felt true to the city.

Our approach

We built tailored shot lists for each location, cast talent and hit the streets (and riverwalks) for filming. For every precinct, we delivered two distinct video styles:

  • A polished landscape edit for YouTube – cinematic, produced and evergreen
  • A social-first portrait version optimised for TikTok, Instagram Reels and YouTube Shorts – looser, faster and designed to feel more UGC

We shot golden-hour drinks and street art strolls at Fish Lane, captured fashion, food and plenty of footpath vibes at James Street, and followed our talent from the CityCat to the Riverwalk through New Farm Park and into Brisbane Powerhouse for a post-sunset show.

To keep Council’s presence subtle but visible, we wove in nods like ambient branding, Council-owned infrastructure and natural colour pops (think blue and yellow cocktails, signage moments and the iconic New Farm Riverhub in the background).

The result

The finished content offers a story-led, social-friendly snapshot of each precinct – showing locals making the most of Brisbane’s public spaces. The landscape edits help build Council’s evergreen YouTube presence, while the short-form Reels and Shorts meet audiences where they already are: searching for their next catch-up spot.
